Who We Are
Sophisticated Funk ™
We’re Fredric and Alexander—a design partnership built on the understanding that luxury needs both structure and soul. For ten years together, six years married, we’ve developed what we call Sophisticated Funk™ the balance between refined intention and spirited character, between what endures and what delights.
This isn’t just our signature style—it’s how we approach every project. Technical training meets creative permission. Discipline meets daring. Material integrity meets emotional resonance. The tension between these qualities makes the work stronger—producing spaces that are both intelligent and interesting, grounded and alive.
We don’t arrive with a predetermined aesthetic. We bring complementary perspectives that challenge and refine each other throughout the design process, ensuring solutions satisfy both the practical and aspirational dimensions of luxury living.
Fredric
Fredric’s passion for working with outdoor spaces began during childhood summers in Michoacán, Mexico, where he learned that the landscape isn’t ornament—it’s integral to how people live. That early foundation led to formal education, where he earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from UNLV and a Master of Urban Planning from USC, followed by years working at an experiential creative agency, curating activations that required both creative vision and technical precision.
He approaches every project by asking: How will this age? How will this be maintained? What makes this appropriate for this place? His strength lies in understanding materials deeply, respecting craft traditions, and designing with longevity in mind—ensuring your investment is protected through thoughtful decisions that honor both context and quality.
Alexander
Alexander’s formative years in Southeast Asia surrounded him with cultures unafraid of color, pattern, and personality. That upbringing shaped his belief that luxury shouldn’t feel restrictive—spaces should give permission, not impose rules.
His career with world-renowned companies like Cirque du Soleil deepened his understanding of how the environment we inhabit shapes emotion, how our spaces tell stories, and how thoughtful risk creates genuine delight. He brings an instinct for what makes a home feel distinctly personal—the layers that set collected spaces apart from decorated ones.
Why this Partnership Works
We each bring different strengths that challenge and refine each other. One perspective asks whether designs will endure; the other asks whether they’ll create joy. One grounds decisions in technical soundness; the other ensures they’re emotionally compelling. Neither approach alone produces the work we create together.
This collaborative dynamic produces spaces that feel both considered and spirited—designs that demonstrate craftsmanship without stiffness, personality without chaos, luxury without pretension. Work that’s as layered and interesting as the people who live there.
Our clients appreciate that we’re as invested in how their spaces perform over time as we are in how they feel when you first walk in. They value having partners who constructively challenge each other to find solutions that are contextually appropriate, materially honest, and deeply personal.
Based in Las Vegas, working across the Western region, we bring this approach to residential projects—creating environments that respond intelligently to their context while maintaining the character that makes a property distinctive.
If you’re looking for design partners who value substance as much as style and understand that luxury is about how you live, not just how things photograph, let’s talk about your project.
